Finding Confidence, Clarity and Leadership Voice
Sarah came into the programme seeking clarity and a sense of belonging. She left knowing she had the right to be in any room she walks into — and with a new role at Barclays to prove it.
A Turning Point
Day 2 of the programme was a turning point. Standing in front of her peers to speak on something personal during a public speaking exercise, Sarah felt exposed — and then powerful. "I was terrified. But everyone in the room made me feel like I had the right to be there. That moment shifted everything. I didn't need to be perfect. I just needed to try."
Learning to Lead Beyond the Debate
Coming from an academic background where everything felt like a debate to win, Sarah was surprised by the warmth and community she found in the programme. "I used to think leadership was about arguing your point the best. But Aleto taught me it's about listening, adapting, and still standing firm in who you are." She learned the value of collaboration over competition — and that true leadership often shows up in moments of vulnerability.
It helped me connect the dots between who I am and who I want to become — with support I never knew I needed.
Building Skills and a Network That Lasts
From branding and CV workshops to real-time challenges, Sarah gained a toolkit she hadn't realised she needed. "I thought I was just here to tweak my CV. I didn't expect to walk away knowing how to build my personal brand, connect with mentors, and present ideas under pressure."
She is still in touch with her buddy Kwasi, who has helped her refine her cover letters and prepare for opportunities she previously wouldn't have considered. The voice that used to tell her she wasn't ready no longer runs the show. Following the programme, Sarah secured a role as a Business Banking Assistant at Barclays.

"Use every minute. Even if you're scared or unsure, show up. The learning doesn't just happen in the sessions — it's in the side chats, the feedback, the moments you want to shrink but choose to speak."
